What a weekend!
So, I slept about 2 hours in 48. Then only about 7 more.
This weekend, Tyler, Joe, Jennifer, Jen, and me packed up our gear and headed on over to the lovely state of delirium, also known as Tennessee. Arriving at the dance with nothing on our minds but food, food, food, we claimed the dining room as our own VIP lounge. Who knew that we could hang out together at Asheville? As the others drifted in and out of our laff-hour, great fun was had by all, especially Tyler, with our new word, "cottony goodness." If you can't figure out what we're talking about, I'm probably not going to be able to tell you because of the severe fit of guffawing that shall overcome my fragile frame.
Jon's house was tons of fun, mostly because the guy-girl ratio was way more in my favor than at the dance, where there was approximately 1 guy to every 30 girls. After much debate about where our host housing was, we set out on the roads of Kingsport to find our bedding for the wee hours of the night. We never found it. Instead, we decided, after one and a half hours of trying to find this magical place we call a bed, that we would rent a hotel room. Driving around is much fun when you have three girlie girls going around in circles. But, by gosh, we know Kingsport. Checking out hotel rooms in a town that is full of drunks at 3 o'clock in the morning is not as fun as I make it out to be. After being rejected several times, we thought it would be a good idea to just stay up all night, so we followed our noses and bellies to the nearest IHOP. After some greasy food and bad service, we play our luck again to find a hotel. Well, we find one... for $200... per night... but we were only going to be in be fore about 3 hours. So, after much debate and a laughing fit at our ill luck, we call it a night and retire to our car seats in the church parking lot. Once again, not as fun as I make it out to be. Saturday, we were the riot troop, mostly because of our lack of sleep. (There's a spork in my bathroom floor.) After tying up a blanket and winning a Joseph Smith game, we retired to hear the key note speakers and had the opportunity to bear testimonies. I was one that screwed up the courage to go up there, and had a great catharsis as to knowing that Heavenly Father knows exactly what we need, as gives it to us exactly when we need it.
After a nice drive home, a shower, and clean clothes, I left and went to baby-sit! A night with a crying baby isn't the funnest, but it's experience that I can be grateful for. So I finally get to sleep!!
I had such a great weekend! And even better news: I have a house to rent! Bob the Builder is letting me rent his house, and it's so neat!!! I'll be there all by myself, except with Lexi, and it's going to be fun, and a learning an experience!!
